Diana's Butterfly Party - Decorations

Diana was very excited for her party today.  She had to break into the food before the guests arrived but I figured, it's your party, you can do what you want, right?  She liked the celery with cream cheese, raisins and pretzels that looked like butterflies and the fruit platter shaped like a butterfly (wish I would have gotten a better picture of it).  We also had butterfly sugar cookies (homemade), gogurts, bowtie pasta salad, veggies and dip and cheese, sausage and crackers.   The pink lemonade was a HUGE hit!  Thanks to Jonathan.  Brad thought I made way too much so Brad told Jonathan, you need to sell lemonade to the guests.  Jonathan would yell, "Who wants some lemonade?" and all the kids came running.  I was most excited about some of the decorations.  My favorite, Jonathan has been talking about butterflies at school and did a couple crafts of butterflies.  The other day though, he came home with about 20 paper butterflies.  When I asked him about them, he said, "They are for Diana's party.  I asked Mrs. Riccardi to draw a butterfly and then I cut them out."  So adorable!  Those are the butterflies in the picture below hanging in front of the gift bags.  I think the gift bags turned out cute and had a solar butterfly pot, a watch it grow butterfly, homemade butterfly treat bags with jelly beans, a marshmallow stick and then the pinwheel attached to the front.  I have also been stalking the dollar store for the flower and butterfly mylar balloons.  I was pretty proud of my flower centerpiece and the number 2 butterfly hung in the front window.  Happy Birthday to my "baby" girl!  I loved your butterfly themed party!

Happy Birthday Diana

I can't believe my little girl is two today!!!  Looking back at pictures of her birthday last year, it is amazing how much she has changed.  We celebrated by having a butterfly themed birthday party with some family and neighborhood friends Diana's age and their siblings.  I will post some pictures so stay tuned.

Puffy Stickers

Auntie Heidi and Uncle Jason sent puffy stickers to Diana in her birthday card.  She immediately took them and ran to her potty chart and put the whole sheet of them on her chart.  I was able to save one sheet but it was perfect timing and clearly she likes them just as much as Auntie Heidi and I did when we were little.  I will need to be on the lookout for more as she seemed to like the puffy stickers more than an M&M as her reward now.

Getting Ready for the Party

The kids were "helping" me get ready for Diana's birthday party today.  I am just hoping that the butterfly wings and nets last until the actual party tomorrow.  They were having so much fun though and Jonathan was being really sweet to Diana by wearing the wings, even though he didn't want to, but she was chasing him with them saying "bro-bro on" until he would put them on.

Accident Free Day

Diana did awesome at potty training today!  We had zero accidents!  Granted we were at home all day so I was able to keep a better eye on her and I am not counting nap and bedtime, which she wears a pull up.

Future Star

Jonathan did amazing at his music concert at school today!  I was so happy that Daddy, GB & Grandpa Weeks were able to make the concert and see how good Jonathan did.  He knew all the songs and actually did a good job singing.  He can carry a tune and wasn't yelling like some of the other kids but he was loud so you could definitely hear him.  I think it is safe to say he got his music ability from his father, not me!  Thank goodness!

Diana enjoyed the concert as well and especially liked that GB & Grandpa treated us for ice cream afterwards.  We had a major break through at Orange Leaf with the potty training....Diana went on a public toilet!  I am happy we have over come this hurdle but her little hands all over the public restroom grosses me out.

Potty Training Day 3

We have made great progress with the potty training.  First thing this morning, Jonathan went to use the potty and Diana followed.  Jonathan pulled down her pants and took off her diaper and she went (#2 included).  I was still upstairs getting dressed, luckily Brad was still home!  She did great all day when we were home.  I knew she was going to have to go while we were out running errands.  I asked her if she had to go and she said yes, so I took her to the restroom, put her on the toilet but as soon as I put her on it, she wanted off right away and wouldn't go.  I have learned with Diana's personality, you can't force her to do things.  I normally just always ask her if she has to go versus making her sit on the potty and try.  So we left Lowe's and by the time we go to Jonathan's school she had an accident.  I think public restrooms and while we are out and about might be a challenge and take some time but the girl has the potty down at home, which is awesome!!!!  This afternoon we were outside playing and I had been asking Diana if she had to go, of course she kept saying no and wouldn't go inside so I was waiting for an accident to happen.  Luckily, our neighbor friends stopped in to play and Sadie had to go potty, so I asked Diana if she wanted to go with Sadie.  Diana followed her inside, sat on her little potty and went!  Of course we had to go right back outside and finish playing, which I remember with Jonathan too.  They don't want to stop what they are doing to go potty.  This picture proves that, today she had Jonathan's leapster and I knew she had to go potty so I said take it with you...so here she is sitting on the potty, watching the leapster.  The boots crack me up too because has been wearing them a lot and insists on leaving them on....I think it's because she can put them on herself.
