Basketball Game #2
Jonathan had another basketball game today. Their tallest player was unable to make it so that was a concern before the game even started. Then, they found out they were playing the St Mary 1st grade girls team! Brad claims this isn't fair. In a way, I have to agree with him because the girls towered over our team. Girls grow first right!?! We lost 20-12 but it was a much better effort by our team.
Closet
Today at nap time, Diana was fighting it. She got up and turned her light on like normal but I heard her asking for help moments after I got downstairs. I gave her a few minutes but she didn't stop. I went in there and she was no where to be found. I said Diana, where are you? "In here" she says. Her voice was coming from inside her closet. She had gone in there and slid the door shut but couldn't get out. Oh, this dear child.
Hockey Game
St. Mary school organized a hockey night at the minor league team, the cyclones, tonight. Jonathan opted to take Brad instead if me, which I can understand...sports are their thing. Apparently though Jonathan ditched Brad about 5 minutes into the game to go sit with his 5th grade friends. When I bought the tickets, I bought the closest to the ice, third row. Brad said he was the only adult in probably the first 10 rows. Oops! Jonathan had a blast and had a lot of fun stories about the night.

Baby Noah
Ever since we went to visit baby Noah, all of Diana's baby dolls are called Noah. They used to be called either Diana or Jonathan but now they are Noah. "Swim baby," my old cabbage patch doll, who I called Jackie, wearing the polka dot swimsuit, is still her favorite and she refers to it as Noah now. She is very much into her baby dolls and is starting to do a lot more pretend play these days. Babies are sleeping, hungry, have to go potty, or Diana is driving them in her pretend car or going shopping with them. Oh and she has been having tea parties and birthday parties a lot too.

Diana's Music Class
Diana started music class today at the Baldwin Music Center. I am already impressed with this program after the first day. One of her preschool friends mom's told me about it and there are 3 other girls from Diana's preschool class in music with her. The teacher has an amazing voice, better than any kids music teacher I have encountered. They do the normal music class stuff but in addition, they get to play on their own keyboards while wearing headphones which they can hear their teacher talk and her piano along with their own piano. Plus every class has a color and shape tied to it. Maybe this will help Diana learn her colors and shapes [I try endlessly with her and she shows very little interest]. And they do a craft project. Here is Diana's project.

Grandma Joanie Trait
Tonight I noticed for the first time that while Diana was concentrating on something, she would "use" her tongue. This is something my Grandma Joan Winkelman, Mom and Sister all do. They stick their tongue out just a little bit and move it around slowly. I don't think I do this but maybe I do but it's funny and cute to me that Diana does it.
I have an Idea
Today while in the car with Diana, I asked her if we should sing some songs. She said "Yes. I [have an] idea" I smiled because I have never heard her say, "I have an idea" before and asked her what her idea was. She said "ABC's" She is getting better at singing her ABC's but we are still not there yet, miss a few letters. It all depends on her mood...this hasn't changed from birth, if she doesn't want to do it, there is no way you are going to get her to, unless she thinks it's her idea. Plus sometimes she is in a silly mood and will singing it really fast and basically say "ABCD...LMNOP...next time sing with me." Her other favorite song to sing is Old MacDonald had a farm. Her pig and duck noises are my favorite. She also likes Wheels on the Bus and Head Shoulders Knees and Toes. She likes to sing and dance these days. It's so cute!
