Hockey

Get ready!  Jonathan is going to play hockey!  He is signed up to do a Learn to Play hockey session starting February 8th for 9 weeks.  He got fitted for his hockey equipment on Monday night and has tried it on every day as soon as he walks in the door from school.  I think it is safe to say he is excited.  We will see how he feels about it in a few weeks.  We are all about exposure and think this is one of the few sports he hasn't tried yet, so what the heck, why not.

Aquarium

Brad has been in Chicago for work this past week and today, so the kids and I headed off to the aquarium this morning.  Jonathan has been teasing to go for awhile now and he had a blast!  He was definitely more into it than Diana, as she was afraid of the sharks but she loved the penguins.  There was worker talking about the penguins and said if anyone had any questions, to feel free and ask.  Of course Jonathan went over and asked questions which isn't surprising to me but Diana also asked questions.  She probably asked about 6 different questions throughout our time watching the penguins.  I was very happy to see her come out of her shell and not be as a timid and shy as she can be at times. We had a great morning!

St. Mary Christmas Play

Jonathan got to play God in his school's Christmas play today.  He did amazingly well!  I was so nervous, my hands were shaking and I thought I was going to lose my breakfast, but he wasn't nervous a lick.  I kept asking him to practice his lines, and I would get, "Mom, I got it.  I don't need to practice."  Sure enough, he had it!  He nailed all 3 performances.  His teacher told him he looked like he was having fun out there.  Several people made comments to me about how he was the 'perfect' God, how outstanding he was, etc.  Very proud parent moment!  He told me that when he was asked to take a picture with all of the angels, he said "Come here servants."  The kid truly amazes me every day.  So proud of you Jonathan!

Fun at the Red's for Diana

Diana got to skip her nap today to witness Jonathan’s big event.  She did really well while we were at the game but she was asleep before we got out of the parking garage.  She has also become obsessed with Rosie Red.

Red’s Run On

Jonathan was chosen to partake in the Red’s Head Kids Club Run On event today at the Red’s event.  He got to run on the field right before the game started and meet a player.  He was assigned third base, which should have been Todd Frazier, which would have been very exciting but since Joey Votto wasn’t playing that day, Frazier was moved to first base, which meant that Jonathan got to meet Ramon Santiago.  Either way, it was a very cool experience and I’m not sure how many other 6-year-olds have gotten to be on the field, get a baseball signed and meet a player.  Jonathan was pretty quiet about the event that day, think he was taking it all in. He is pretty proud of his baseball though.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a fun night celebrating the 4th of July with the Hamilton’s. A simple BBQ, some homemade beer for the dad’s, pop rocks candy, sparklers and pop-it’s for the kids and lots of laughs for us mom’s. We were able to see some fireworks from our front lawn as well.
