Where did the last month go and what has happened to my babies?!? I feel like every month I say they are growing up too quickly but they really are. Jonathan is “4 and 11 months” as he will tell you and has literally grown a ½ inch in the last month. He now sleeps on the top bunk of his beds. He wanted to start sleeping in our guest bed as he told me that Diana could have his bunkbeds and he could try sleeping in a big bed. I said, well what if you got to sleep on the top bunk and he was all about that. It has been over a week now and he hasn’t fallen out, thankfully! We have also been working on not pulling our pants all the way down to go potty, as he says “I pee like a kindergartner now” (which is how Brad explained it to him) and he is now wiping his own bottom (well most of the time). Apparently we have been spending a lot of time in the bathroom because that is one of Diana’s new things...she walks over to the potty and lifts up her shirt and sticks out her belly as if she is going potty, like a boy standing up (wonder how she got that idea?). So I decided to get out her potty chair. Anytime Jonathan goes into the bathroom she has to go with and she will sit on her potty. I am hoping once it gets nice out that I can start training her. She did discover how to flush the big toilet the other day though and now she wants to put toilet paper in there and flush constantly. Diana’s words have EXPLODED in the last few weeks. She will try and copy anything you say and point to things she knows and say it. Her favorite word right now might be “no” and she normally says it with her pointer finger pointed out and with attitude. She also asks for “nack” [snack] now and will count (well you can’t really understand the words but that is clearly what she is doing). Anytime she does get a snack, which her favorite right now are marshmallows and frozen gogurt pops, she gets two and says “bro-bro.” Normally she will walk over and give the extra snack to him but sometimes it sneaks into her mouth. One day, I heard Jonathan say “Ewww it’s all slobbery!” Apparently she had put his vitamin in her mouth and then gave it to him. Gross! Diana will no longer sit in the highchair, actually it is put away in our basement already and will also no longer sit in her booster seat at the table. Just a big chair for Miss Diana! Diana still adores her big brother and for the most part I think it is adorable until it leads to her wanting to do things she really shouldn’t be doing...like walking along the bricks of our driveway. It scares me but I think I have her trained now to at least wait for me and ask for my hand. Amazingly she does have good balance on them. The time change has thrown my kids way off in their sleeping and it is driving me mad. Diana is now going to bed closer to 8 am but still getting up at 6 am. She does still at least take a 2+ hour afternoon nap. Jonathan has been sleeping more like 9 pm to 7 am these days. Hopefully we will get back on track soon. We do have a new routine at bedtime these days, Diana has Jonathan’s record player and Brad’s old records in her room now and we listen to a few records as a family before Diana goes to bed. It’s a special time as a family and adorable when both kids just sit in the chair together.
