Let summer begin! The kids are ready. I have a feeling we will be living at the pool again this year. The kids really enjoyed the Friday night festivities tonight.

Camping
The boys went on their annual camping trip with the Foys this weekend. They had a blast just being boys. But boy did they sure stink when they got home! I think Jonathan had to wash his legs at least twice, if not three times to get all the dirt off. Jonathan caught two bass fish, played some baseball and went on lots of hikes. He loves his buddies Myles and Elliot. He didn't want to come home.

Diana 3 Year Checkup
Diana had her big girl 3 year-old check up today and all is good. She had her eyes checked and all checked out ok. She is staying on her 25% curve for height, 36 1/2 inches, and 50% curve for weight, 31 pounds 2 ounces. She had to get one shot today, Hep A, and did amazingly well. She got the shot like a big girl, in her arm, and didn't even cry or even flinch when the nurse pricked her. I was shocked. Even Jonathan was nervous for Diana today and told me yesterday, "I am going to stand outside in the hallway while she gets her shot so I don't have to listen to her scream." Luckily for him, he was at school but as it turned out, he wouldn't have heard her scream.
Jonathan End of year Picnic
Jonathan had his end of school year class picnic today. This particular park had a giant sandbox and all of the kindergartner's had pails and shovels. As soon as Diana walked up to Jonathan, he said hang on. He ran, asked his teacher if there was enough buckets for Diana to have one and came back with a purple pail for Diana. She was so happy! He still looks after Diana and it melts my heart every time. It was fun watching all of the kids play on a gorgeous day.

SMS Walk-a-Thon
Jonathan had a walk-a-thon at school today. Diana and I joined Jonathan's class for the walk. I think Jonathan walked with us for all of 2 minutes. Luckily there are girls in his class that are sweet and walked with Diana and I. One particular girl, Grace, walked with us the whole time and was so nice to Diana. She was picking her flowers, talking to her, helped push her. At one point she said, "Diana hasn't walked at all. I wish I was being pushed in a stroller." It was funny! We walked 3 miles which was far for some of the Kindergartner's and the teacher walks FAST. Afterwards, the kids got snowcones. Thankfully the weather held and it ended up being a nice walk.

St. Mary Kindergarten Mother’s Day Event
The Kindergarten classes put on a Mother’s Day Event for all us mother’s. It was so fun, sweet and heartwarming. I of course forgot l my makeup and supplies for the make-over piece of the event. Thankfully I have nice friends who let me borrow stuff. Jonathan got to paint my nails, put makeup on me and fix my hair. Don’t I look good? It’s probably the most makeup I have worn in years. Ha! Then we all got to walk-down the runway the kids had made with painted rocks we got to take home. All of the kids were sitting along the runway with their mom’s phones/cameras. They looked like the paparazzi. Next it was the kids turn to take the stage and sing us some songs. This will be an event I won’t forget for awhile.

Bike Ride
Jonathan has weekly soccer practices at Armleder park and for the first few weeks I would make Diana watch with me. Well, she has discovered the playground nearby which ended watching the practices. Today, we brought her bike and she had a lot of fun riding it around. She has a new addition to her bike, check out the wheels. As we were riding to the car to go pick up Jonathan, she said “Just a second mommy.” She got off her bike, ran into the field and said “Mommy, look at all the beautiful flowers!” The world through a child’s eyes. I am so blessed to be a mom who gets to witness this each and every day.

Diana’s School Concert
Brad and I attended Diana’s music concert at school today. She loves music and it shows! She was singing along, doing the hand motions and playing the instruments. I can’t believe her first year of preschool is almost over. Where did the time go?!? She loves school and really just being busy and going places. Her teachers, Mrs. Ahrens and Mrs. Wall, do call her their little teacher, as she started to develop a leadership role, would help tell the other kids “directions”, followed the rules and ensured others did as well. Diana definitely blossomed this year in school.

Diana's Painting Birthday Party
Diana got to share her birthday party with her preschool classmate, Olivia, who has a birthday a week before Diana's. We picked a painting theme and as Olivia's dad said, Andrea (Olivia's mom) has found her soul mate (meaning me). We had so much fun planning the party. Andrea is amazingly creative and yet simple, she even hosted! We couldn't have been more lucky to share a birthday party with this family. The kids had a blast and I was quite impressed with their masterpieces.

Butterflies
It’s been fun having our butterflies again this year, but it is time to let them go live in nature. Diana has thoroughly enjoyed watching them change and fly around inside the net for the past few weeks. She would actually sit at the island for several minutes at a time and just watch them, get excited and squeal when they would flitter around and sometimes talk to them. Jonathan still remembers learning all the different life-cycle stages in preschool last year and would tell us all about them.
