Melt My Heart

Highlight of my day...Diana asked me if I could read her a book while I was cleaning up dinner. I said not right now but Jonathan said he could. I love it when he reads to her

Why Buy Toys?

Brad has always sad, the kids don’t need all these toys.  The need a backyard, a ball and a box.  Well the box held true today.  How many kids can you fit in a box?  I pretended that I was shipping them to their grandparents houses.

Snuggle?

Diana woke up from her nap today and as soon as she comes downstairs, [she comes down by herself when she wakes up] she always asks where Jonathan is. Today, Jonathan was playing with Alex and Evan and I said but he will be home soon. She went over to the couch, looked out the window and said "I don't see him." She laid down on the couch and was sad. I laid next to her and said, "Can I snuggle with you?" I proceeded to tell her that Jonathan and I snuggle on the couch while she is napping and she looked at me and said "No. I lay her by myself. Get off! I'll show you how I lay by myself." Such an independent little girl! She has never been a cuddler. She has warmed up a lot and will finally give hugs and kisses but she still doesn't like to sit on anyone's lap or cuddle.

St. Mary Spirit Award

Jonathan was honored today with the St. Mary Spirit Award. Only one child per class receives this award for always saying "yes" to others in his actions, efforts and service. His teacher told me last week, "I am not going to tell you why, but you need to be at Mass on the last day of school." I thought maybe Jonathan was reading or something but Jonathan said he wasn't and claimed he had no idea why Mrs. Reker-Murphy would tell me to be at Mass. I thought he was being shy or secretive. I am so glad that Diana and I were able to witness him receive this award. He even said when he heard his principal, Ms. Rosemond talk about the award, "there is no way I am getting it. And then, I heard my name." This is a great honor and we are all so proud of him! We are very blessed to have him as our son. He truly amazes me with how wonderful a child he is, what a joy he brings to everyone he meets and his curiosity to learn. One of his former preschool teachers, who is also a mom to a son in Jonathan's class, came up to him after school and said "Hey, Jonathan. What an honor for you to win the spirit award, although I am not surprised." I thought that was sweet. There are so many wonderful kids in Jonathan's class and school, I almost feel one award per class isn't enough. Oh and he also stole my heart today while sitting next to me at Mass. We were in the first row and he got to see the Deacon put the communion hosts in the Tabernacle, as I was trying to explain this to him, he said, "I want to be a priest some day...for St. Mary's."

Jonathan’s Fieldtrip

Diana and I tagged along for Jonathan’s fieldtrip today.  Once again, Jonathan said he wanted us there but he hardly paid us any attention.  But we didn’t care, we were there for the ice cream anyway.

Swim Lessons

Diana is old enough for swim lessons this year and had her first one tonight. She wouldn’t put her face in the water to blow bubbles but seemed to enjoy the class and being in the water. Her friend Olivia is also in class with her. Jonathan is also taking swim lessons and is trying to perfect his free style.
