The kids missed each other again today while Jonathan was at school. He came home, they grabbed a snack and both went inside our trash compactor box, which they have been having a ton of fun with! Adorable!

Lost Little Girl
Diana has been a lost little girl on days where Jonathan has a full day of school. I think she has gotten used to his snow days and delays. She literally tackled him when he got home today and couldn't wait to start playing with him.

Sledding
Jonathan finally found someone to go sledding with. He has been teasing to go sledding the past few days and despite my efforts it never happened. Brad was out of town Tues-Sat of this week, which didn't help matters. Diana does not like the snow and refused to go. Wouldn't even put her boots on, I was just gonna let her stay in the car. It never worked out with any of his friends to go either. Sure glad Dad is home, for more than one reason.
SMS Open House
Jonathan had his open house at school, St. Mary School (SMS), today. He had a lot of fun showing us all of his hard work and showing us around school. Diana had a blast too and didn't want to leave. We were there for almost two hours. Jonathan is very proud of his paper mache mask that he worked very hard on. I was also impressed with his owl drawing, he said it was a Bengal owl. Diana did every activity available to her, I think she is ready for more school. Jonathan's music teacher said he is doing really well in class and is a really good reader. She was shocked when I said he didn't start reading until school started. We then went to the library and saw Mrs. Knollman, Jonathan's reading teacher and librarian. She was also shocked when I said Jonathan wasn't reading until school started and that I give her all the credit. She said he is a joy to work with and loves to learn. Melted my heart. Then we were off to the computer room and before I knew it, Jonathan was already logged into a computer. He even logged into a computer for Diana. Amazing!

Tooth Fairy
The tooth fairy visited Jonathan last night and left $5. He was quite excited. He also took out a $5 bill from his piggy bank as he thinks he wants to buy a micro-charger with the money. Apparently micro-chargers are the "in" thing with Kindergartners these days. He did say though that he didn't want to buy the track or anything else because that costs too much money and he wants to save his money for a house and food he will have to buy when he is a grown-up. Aww!

Missing a Front Tooth
Jonathan lost his first tooth!!! With a little help from the dentist, this ugly, gray, wiggly tooth is finally gone. Jonathan bit into an apple on Wednesday night and I thought for sure we would be able to get it out ourselves after the apple helped loosen it. No such luck! It was a stubborn tooth for having such a damaged root. Jonathan got to breathe bubble gum nitrous oxide to help calm him and make his lips "tingly." They distracted him with the iPad and tattoos. Dr. Betsy debated taking both front teeth out because the other one looks funky on the x-ray too but since it's not gray and not bothering Jonathan yet, she decided to leave it for the time being. While Dr. Betsy was giving Jonathan the shot, he started to ask, "Are you going to have to give me a shot?" and then he felt it. He wiggled a little, cried a bit and said "Ow" several times but then it was over. When she was giving the shot, a bunch of white puss came out behind the tooth. It was definitely infected. Gross! When Dr. Betsy came back in to pull the tooth, he didn't feel it and was surprised it was out already. He was very brave! We are all happy this is behind us. He looks so old now without his tooth! Diana was a big help all week. Jonathan was really worried about having to get it pulled and she kept saying, "Jonathan, calm down. It will be fine." Or "Just get it out" or "the tooth fairy will bring you a whole dollar Jonathan." It was very cute. She was also given an iPad to play on. Spoiled! But really, the dentist office is just smart.
You can see how damaged and short the root was. |

Funny Sayings
Diana is cracking me up lately with what she is saying these days. We have changed so much in our speech over the past few months, from a couple words together to almost conversation. Tonight I was putting her to bed and we were reading about the zoo. A picture of a peacock was on the page and she asked me if I liked peacocks. I said yes but that Nana really likes peacocks. In exact words she said "Nana should come visit and we can go to zoo." Another example, the other day she was on her kitchen toy phone and I heard her saying, "Jonathan come home. I miss you!"

Jonathan Wrestling Video
Jonathan has been wrestling now on every Tuesday and Friday for an hour and a half each night. He really seems to enjoy wrestling, even with Brad not trying to push it on him. I think the kid may have found his sport, but we will see. I mean it's in his blood...(Dad, Grandpa Gordy, Uncle Kyle, some of my cousins and uncles were wrestlers). Diana and I went to watch him wrestle for the first time and I am still not sure how I feel about the sport. As long as he is enjoying it and having fun, I guess I will go along for the ride. He is always asking, "Do I have wrestling tonight?" I even see him practicing some of his moves at home.

Baby Dolls
All Diana wants to do these days is play with her baby dolls. Sometime Jonathan will be really nice and play with her. In today's case, the second snow day after Christmas break, we are running out of ideas, so we decided to dress all of the babies in warmer clothes. Dressing baby dolls brings back memories of my childhood.

Bath Baby
Diana took a bath tonight with her bath baby that she got for Christmas. She is so sweet to her babies. She was washing her, talking to her, giving her toys in the tub, etc. You should have seen the excitement when I got out the matching pajamas that GB and Grandpa Weeks had bought her.

Good-bye MN
We sure had a fun visit to Minnesota, despite the COLD weather. We will really miss everyone but not the cold weather. Although the cold doesn't seem to bother Jonathan, he was outside playing ice hockey in the sub-zero weather on more than one occasion. The kids traveled really well, which is to be expected now. Diana was tired by the end of the flight though, took a later flight this time. She was ready for bed but wouldn't give in. This picture cracks me up.
Ice Hockey
Poor Grandpa was the only brave sole to tackle the cold weather head on with a little ice hockey, not once but twice! Jonathan had a blast! I wish it would have been warmer for me to go watch. :-) Jonathan wants to rent skates next year too.

Cousins
Diana and Jonathan are loving their time with cousin Noah. Jonathan offers to feed Noah all the time. Now that Noah is getting bigger and eating more, it takes longer and at one point, Jonathan said "Geeze Noah." We tried to get a picture of the all the grandkids but it didn't work out so well. Diana didn't want to get in the chair, hence the red nose and puffy eyes.
